If you're looking to play Scrabble online, Scrabble Go is the only licensed version of the Scrabble game formerly provided by EA. In connection with Hasbro and Mattel, Scopely, the leading company for mobile games, offers this word game as a free download for any mobile device. Available from the Google Play store or the Apple App store, this classic Scrabble game has additional features for a modern take on this well-loved original.
Scrabble Go uses the same tiles and letter values as classic Scrabble, so there should be no confusion trying to figure out any differences. In addition to the traditional version of this word game, you can choose to play different modes like the modern version with additional assistance, the arena version with tournaments, or timed duels with other opponents to test your word-making skills.
Once you download and install Scrabble Go to your mobile device, you're ready to get started.
You can log in with your Facebook account to play with friends, or you can log in as a guest to play Scrabble Go against the computer or other players around the world.
Just above the middle of the screen you'll find the main carousel. Swipe left or right to choose if you want to play now, get matched with a random opponent, or participate in special events.
Alternatively, you can start a new game through the narrow bar on the home page by searching for a specific friend or finding another opponent. You can also choose to play classic Scrabble without any boosts.
On your active game screen, you can swipe left or right to see games where it's your turn, where you're waiting on your opponent to make a move, with potential matches, and for starting a new game.
Get a higher total score than your opponent to win the game.
The Scrabble Go word finder is an excellent cheat tool to help you find words with high scores or to use up the letters on your rack without having to skip a turn.
Step 1: Find a jumble solver that uses the Scrabble dictionary.
Step 2: Using the bar at the top of the page, input the letters you have on your rack. If you like, you can also add a letter you wish to attach to on the playboard. You can add up to 15 letters and 2 wildcards, which can be added using a space or a “?”
For example, your letters are F, H, R, T, and you wish to put them on the board with the letter A Type them into the bar and hit search. Valid words and their scores will appear, categorized by the number of letters in the words. Some possible words and their scores are
HAFT – 9
FRAT – 7
RAFT – 7
HART – 6
FAH – 8
AFT – 6
ARF – 6
FA – 5
Just like with classic Scrabble, there are bonus squares on the board that can increase the score of letters or words that you make.
DL - double letter
TL - triple letter
DW - double word
TW - triple word
Take advantage of these bonus squares whenever possible, and try to prevent your opponent from using these tiles when making your words.
If you use all seven of your tiles to form a word in one turn, you'll get a bonus of 50 points.
Scrabble Go will only let you play valid words, so try to see if words from other languages will work if you need to. If you can play the word, it will show up in green and let you submit. Invalid words will show up in red, and you won't be able to finish your turn until you submit a valid word.
Try using the modern mode of game play available in Scrabble Go. You'll get power-ups by way of boosts and helpful hints that will help you to increase your score.
Two-letter words can come in handy to make multiple words in one turn. Additionally, check for letters that you can add to the beginning or end of existing words. This is a great way to reach a bonus square and to create high-scoring words.
Because there are more consonants than vowels, try to save a vowel or two for later in the game when you might get stuck.
Scrabble Go is set up just like the traditional Scrabble game. In Words with Friends, the bonus squares are in different positions. Scrabble Go uses the same distribution and values in letter tiles as the original game while Words with Friends has their own distribution and letter values. Finally, the two games use different dictionaries, meaning that some words allowed in Words with Friends won't be valid if you try to play them in Scrabble Go.
